The Nevada State Public Works Board has been involved with a number of agencies in the development of this portion of our web site.

The website provided here is not intended nor planned to meet ALL needs of maintenance of buildings and grounds. This website addresses only certain items that have generally been deficient. Please continue to budget for all areas necessary to adequately operate and maintain facilities and programs in an appropriate manner.

Originally, Indoor Air Quality and Mold related issues were approaching emergency proportions and the Governor’s Office formed a task force committee, which met regularly and included the Governor’s Council, the Budget Director, the Risk Manager of the State, the Buildings and Grounds Administrator and myself. Monthly meetings were initiated and utilized to develop protocols and to receive, evaluate, respond to and remediate Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Mold related issues and concerns.

Over the course of these meetings the cause of many of the issues were identified. It was determined that implementation and documentation of periodic maintenance controls, maintenance funding and maintenance training improvements could mitigate many causes of poor indoor air quality. Therefore the spwd started a maintenance education system and the group collaborated on the M425 Maintenance Unit and web site.

The basic responsibility to prevent indoor air quality and mold problems lays with each agency head. This unit has been developed to provide guidelines and tools to help accomplish this responsibility through the identification of necessary maintenance controls and the related funding needed to accomplish them.

For your convenience the task force has developed a down loadable worksheet  you may wish to use as a tool. The Budget office is requiring each department to submit their prioritized request into the Nevada Executive Budget System (NEBS).
