| On July 16, 2003, the Community College of Southern Nevada hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Morse Arberry Jr. Telecommunications Building" at the Cheyenne Campus. Martin-Harris Construction and JMA Architecture Studios joined forces and was awarded the first "Design-Build" project in Southern Nevada by the Nevada State Public Works. | |||||||

Scheduled to open in fall 2004, the two-story, 82,000 square foot facility will house the rapidly expanding telecommunications, engineering, computing and media technology programs near the campus’s southwest entrance. Valued at $25 Million when built and equipped, the cost includes a $1Million match to be raised by the College and the CCSN Foundation. The facility is being named by CCSN for State Assemblyman Morse Arberry Jr. to recognize his efforts in championing technology education and taking the lead in the 2001 Legislature to secure the telecommunications project funding for CCSN. The building will have a palette of limestone and a composition of stucco and glass as the basic materials. The sleek exterior design announces the "high tech" learning center. The interior will house a realistic environment of the actual working world of telecommunications – television studios, cyclorama studio, working labs, lecture halls, television production facility and the glassed lobby will reveal primary control room. Guests in the lobby will be able to view the actual workings of this high end industry . |
